Wind, calm, wind

Wednesday, November 27th, 2002

The sailing today was nearly perfect. Cathy and new crew-list people Kristy and Shelly came along. I forgot the throttle cable was broken, but Shelly manually worked the throttle on the engine so we could get out and back in.

The weather forecast was right on — light winter winds. So using the big jib (the friggin’ 150!) worked great. There is something magical about the boat charging along in calm weather.

We sailed on one tack to Raccoon Strait, then ran out of wind. After motoring around Angel Island, we caught wind on the other side and had perfect sailing all the way back. Lots of ship and tug traffic.

Sailing with Laurel, Marshal and Stacey

Sunday, November 10th, 2002

Nice sailing yesterday with Laurel, Marshal and Stacey. Had light to moderate winds, and managed to avoid rain while we were out there. Made it all the way to the cityfront and back. There’s something really nice about sailing in colder weather. The different clouds and skies are a nice change of pace.

Today I’m sailing with Captain Ellen and her crew.
